WHO WE ARE
Kennedy Pemberton
Director of Operations
Kennedy Pemberton, holds a Master’s degree in Tourism Development from the University of Surrey, and has over ten years of experience promoting economic resilience through tourism planning. He has led national and regional initiatives involving product development, disaster preparedness, stakeholder engagement and capacity-building, as well as policy review and analysis to boost tourism’s development effectiveness.
With extensive experience within both the public and private sector, Kennedy crafted all Sustainable Tourism Programming within the 2022-2028 ACS Plan of Action and Implementation Plan, and has led over 100 hours of MSME capacity-building to strengthen Community-Based Tourism experiences in Dominica, Belize, and The Bahamas.
Kennedy has also mentored Tourism MSMEs across five (5) countries within the UNDP Future Tourism Project, taught “Tourism Policy and Planning in Developing Countries” for the University of the West Indies – St. Augustine, and served as Sustainable Tourism Product Development Consultant to the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
Rachel McCaffery
Founder
Founder of Green Case Consulting, Rachel has over 20 years' experience in developing and embedding sustainability and corporate responsibility programmes for international travel brands. Rachel was Head of Global Sustainability for Virgin Holidays for 10 years, and has developed sustainable tourism and community strategies for corporates such as STA Travel, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates and G Adventures as well as for destinations including Portugal, the Bahamas and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Rachel has been instrumental in the development of a number of globally significant sustainable tourism tools and certifications including the Travelife for Tourism Accommodations; the European Tourism Indicator System; Let's Reduce Single-Use: A Plastics Reduction Guide for Hotels; the ABTA Global Guidance on Animal Welfare in Tourism; and the European Travel Commission's Sustainability Implementation Handbook for National Tourism Organisations.
Rachel has a BA in Geography with Marketing and Communications from London Guildhall University and an MSc in International Tourism Policy from London Metropolitan University.
Alexandra McCaffery
Biodiversity Expert
Specialising in Biodiversity Conservation, Alexandra holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, from the University of Bournemouth, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and a Degree in Politics. Alex has over ten years of experience in the field of environmental management and biodiversity conservation.
Having lived and worked in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean Alex has a wide variety of experience. She has worked on climate change issues, including producing educational materials and disaster preparedness and risk management in the Caribbean. Led protected area management programmes and agri-environment schemes in the UK and supported wildlife protection, including human-wildlife conflict alleviation in African National Parks for Uganda Conservation Foundation.
She is also an experienced and qualified educator inspiring international students on the environment at the International School of Uganda.
Akilah Procope
Economics and Research Expert
Akilah Procope is a seasoned marketing and data analytics professional with a distinguished career spanning over a decade, supporting and enhancing marketing strategies through comprehensive research. Her expertise in analysing consumer insights to inform business strategies shines across various international markets, including the USA, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and Canada.
Akilah’s academic qualifications, including a Professional Certificate in Business Analytics, an MSc in International Trade Policy, and a BSc in Economics & Management Studies, underscore her analytical expertise. With advanced knowledge in data analytics and marketing research methodologies, Akilah Procope stands as a dynamic force in driving strategic decision-making and marketing innovation.
Kendria Ferguson
Tourism Waste Management Specialist
Bahamian national, Kendria Ferguson, holds a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from Barry University and a Master's degree in Global Sustainability and Sustainable Energy from the University of South Florida. She has undertaken environmental and tourism projects In The Bahamas and has been instrumental in leading environmental management for one of the country’s largest hotel developments. Additionally, she has worked on public service initiatives, including developing a national campaign to prohibit certain single-use plastics and implementing strategies for increasing renewable energy integration. Kendria was also appointed by the Bahamas Government to a task force to develop post-COVID recovery strategies and has collaborated with local and international organizations to support post-Dorian reconstruction.
Carol Hay
Tourism Industry and Inclusion Expert
Carol is an international travel and tourism professional specialising in destination branding and marketing, and sustainable and resilient tourism development. Carol was Director of Marketing UK & Europe for the Caribbean Tourism Organisation for 10 years, and has worked extensively in destination marketing and management, sustainable tourism development and community development. She is a strong advocate for diversity, equality and inclusion in the tourism, travel and hospitality sectors.
Carol is a trained coach, mentor and trainer and lectures in Business and Tourism Management at the Global Banking School at Canterbury Christ Church University. She won a Celebrating Her award for Tourism Resilience from the International Organisation for Peace through Tourism in 2023.
Judi Clarke
Climate Change Expert
Judi is a climate change adaptation and resilience specialist with over 20 years' experience in the Caribbean. Judi spent 6 years as Caribbean Regional Director at the CARIBSAVE Partnership, a global not-for-profit organisation established in 2008 as a partnership between the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre and the University of Oxford.
For Green Case, Judi leads on work involving the review and development of climate change adaptation policies and strategies; climate change vulnerability assessments; gender mainstreaming; and environmental impact assessments.
Judi holds a BSc in Economics and Management and an MSc in Natural Resource Management from the University of the West Indies. She was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change at the University of East Anglia, UK, where she co-authored Surviving Climate Change in Small Islands: A Guidebook.
Phil Bloomfield
Communications Expert
Phil is a travel and tourism communications and PR veteran, having worked both client and agency side across a variety of destination, accommodation, airline, and tour operator brands in his 25-year career. Phil headed Virgin Holidays' Corporate Communications team for 5 years and has led global PR teams for Cheapflights and dnata Travel.
Phil leads Green Case's work on sustainability messaging, communications and promotion. He has been listed twice in PR Week's 150 Most Influential People in PR and is a winner of the Chartered Institute of PR's Best Internal Communications Campaign award.
Chrissie Beck
Sustainable Events Expert
Chrissie is an events sustainability expert with over 20 years' experience in the international live events and conferences industry. Chrissie has led multiple internal and external events and experiences ranging from conferences and press stunts at Virgin Atlantic to global launches and stakeholder celebrations at Shell.
For Green Case, Chrissie leads on event sustainability, including measuring the carbon and waste impacts of large scale and mass participation events, and creating strategies and plans to reduce environmental impact.
Chrissie's qualifications include Sustainability Essentials for Business, and Sustainability Studies, from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability. She is accredited to implement ISO 14001: Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 20021: Event Sustainability Management Systems, and lectures on sustainability for The Event Academy.
